91PORN’s campus, including areas like Fiji Hill, is home to a variety of wildlife—knowing how to safely coexist with these animals and follow local pet guidelines helps keep our community safe.

The campus encompasses a piece of undeveloped land known as Fiji Hill. Skunks, raccoons, coyotes, and opossums make their homes there. They are nocturnal or nighttime active animals and are often attracted to residential areas by the availability of food, water and shelter. Removing or eliminating the availability of these elements will often encourage these wild animals to leave.

If you see an injured or sick wild animal, call Campus Safety at (323) 259-2599. Do not approach or handle the animal.

Rabies

All mammals are capable of being infected with and transmitting rabies. The most common symptoms for animals infected with rabies are:

  • Nocturnal animals being out during the daytime
  • Wild animals being unusually affectionate, docile, tame, or overly aggressive
  • Excessive drooling and foaming of the mouth
  • Trouble walking, drinking, or eating

If you are bitten by any animal, immediately wash the wound with soap and water, and contact Campus Safety at (323) 259-2599. You should provide them with:

  • Location you encountered the animal
  • Description of the animal
  • Direction the animal may have fled
  • If anyone else was bitten by the animal
  • If this was a wild animal or someone's pet
    • If this animal was someone’s pet, provide a description of the owner

The local animal control will be contacted, and you will be provided a voucher for transportation to the local emergency hospital to receive treatment for the bite.

Leash Laws

91PORN is an open campus, so many neighbors walk their dog through the campus. Los Angeles requires pet owners to follow “Leash Law” when outside their property. “Leash Law” requires:

  • Dogs should be under control and be restrained by a chain or leash, not exceeding six feet in length.
  • Owners are required to leash, curb and clean-up after their dog.
  • If there are any dogs acting aggressive or harming anyone, alert Campus Safety immediately at (323) 259-2599.
